A letter arrived

Someone wanted you to have it.

If a letter in a sealed envelope found its way to your letterbox and this address was printed on the card beside it, here is what it is, and how it came to you.

What it is

The person who wrote to you has been telling their life story with Revere: a few recorded conversations that become a memoir, in their own words. Near the end of that telling, they chose a small number of people who shaped their life to receive a letter. You are one of them.

The words are theirs

Every line was drawn from their own telling, and they reviewed the letter word by word before anything was sent. Nothing goes automatically: after they approved it, it was held for two full days in case they wanted to change their mind. They didn't. Sending it to you was a decision they made twice.

If it landed with weight

Letters like this arrive into all kinds of histories, and not every one lands lightly. We won't pretend to know what it means between the two of you. But the facts above are yours to keep: the words are theirs, and the sending was no accident.

What receiving it costs you

Nothing, and nothing follows it. We hold only your name and postal address, given to us by the sender, and the address was used once, to post the letter. You are not on a list, nothing will ever be marketed to you, and you can ask us to delete what little we hold at any time. The detail is on our privacy page.

If you'd like to reply

Reply to them, in whatever way is natural between you; the letter came from them, not from us. If a card came with it pointing to a private link, that link is a piece of their story, shared with you to read in your own time.

And if you're curious about Revere itself, the rest of this site explains, starting with how it works.
